From a faxed referral to a completed visit
EnsureCare reads a faxed cardiology referral, matches an in-network specialist, books a time around the patient’s work shifts, and returns the consult note.
What appears on screen
- Meet Maria: 58 years old, referred to cardiology for an abnormal ECG. Her primary care practice faxed the referral, she needs to be seen within 14 days, and she works day shifts.
- Receive the referral. EnsureCare reads the fax the moment it arrives: the reason, the urgency, and in-network coverage. A field it cannot read clearly goes to staff review, not a guess.
- Find the right fit. A specialist is matched on specialty, network, distance, and availability: an in-network cardiology practice 4 miles from home. She is offered Tuesday at 2:00 PM or Wednesday at 8:30 AM, outside her work shifts.
- Coordinate the visit. The appointment is booked in the EHR, the referral packet goes to cardiology before the visit, a reminder text is set for the day before, and the referring provider sees the status change to Scheduled.
- Close the loop. The consult note goes back to the referring doctor. The referral closes only when the result reaches the referring provider.
